Russian Festival featuring Steinway Artist, Eugene Alcalay, piano

Eugene Alcalay is a fantastic pianist and generous performer.

In 1984, Alcalay came under the tutelage of the legendary Leonard Bernstein who provided him with scholarship to further his musical studies in the United States. He credits Bernstein’s generosity as the reason he was able to pursue degrees from the IU School of Music, The Curtis Institute and The Julliard School. He has also studied under Seymour Lipkin, James Tocco, Milton Babbitt and Ned Rorem.

A believer in paying forward kind deeds, Alcalay has conducted master classes for teachers and students and concerts at our gallery, fitting them in to his busy schedule as a Associate Professor at UW-Platteville and touring concert artist.

In addition to this appearance with the WCO, Alcalay’s current season includes a return engagement as Artist-in-Residence at Columbia’s Universidad Nacional in Bogota and a Paris debut.
