Condition Report & Appraisal Service

We understand that sometimes people purchase instruments from private parties. Often, someone they know is selling their piano and it seems like a good deal. It’s a good idea to get a condition report before purchasing any used piano, even from someone you know.

Our technicians can perform this service in about an hour. Shortly after the technician’s visit, you will receive your detailed report which will include a complete assessment of the condition of the piano (including the innerworkings) and estimated value in writing.

Having a qualified technician inspect the instrument provides peace of mind and insures that the buyer will have all of the relevant information about the piano. It is important for the buyer to find their own technician, who they pay, to provide this service.

Q: I feel funny about telling my friends that I want to have someone look at the piano first. What do I do?

A: Tell your friends that you are interested in the piano but know nothing about them. Most people may know the last time their piano was tuned, but have no idea of it’s actual condition. Explaining that you want to make sure you’re paying them a fair price is sure to put them at ease.

Q: Won’t you just tell me the piano is a piece of junk so you can sell me something else?

A: No. That would be dishonest.

When you hire us for this service, we become your agent and protect your interests. The benefit to working with our technicians is that we work on more pianos, new and used, and are in the best position to offer realistic estimates as to the value of any given piano.

Q: How much does this service cost?

A: Fees are based on where the piano is located. Contact us for more information at (608)237-7373 or via email.
