The Ultimate Sound Experience
Since 1972, Roland has worked to create the ultimate piano experience, and our new Premium Upright Pianos are among the most exciting yet. We wanted to build a luxurious upright piano for the connoisseur, with the rich sound and graceful appearance of an acoustic, along with a multitude of advantages only possible with a digital piano. Our Premium Upright Pianos are powered by the latest version of our acclaimed SuperNATURAL Piano Modeling technology, along with a unique keyboard that blends wood and molded materials for great feel and durability. You can connect via Bluetooth® technology to your smartphone or tablet so you can hear your music-making apps or online piano lessons through the piano’s powerful sound system, or enjoy the use of a huge number of Apps designed for education, entertainment, or creating music.
SuperNATURAL Piano Modeling
Press a key on most digital pianos and you’ll hear a recording of a piano note. But a SuperNATURAL Piano works differently, using the latest modeling technology to recreate, rather than replay, the sound. The unique modeling process spans the entire sound creation process of a typical piano including the combination of notes played, their resonance and the way in which the piano’s many elements interact with each other. The result is a rich, complex sound – complete with overtones – that actually changes in response to the way you play; something impossible to achieve when a piano uses samples. It’s the difference between just listening back to a recording or actually being there yourself.
Plays Like an Acoustic Grand Piano
It’s not just the feel of the keys either; the way our Roland digital pianos in Wisconsin perform is also important. Each key has a stabilizing pin to ensure the vertical travel of the key is smooth and precise, avoiding the sideways key movement and noise experienced when playing glissandos on some pianos. The Key sensing system is also tuned to match it, ensuring that the sound and keyboard work in complete harmony for the ultimate piano experience. Finally, the keys share the look and feel of real ebony and ivory, and their moisture-absorbing properties mean your fingers won’t slide off when playing.
Connect Your Smartphone or Tablet via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi – and Use Apps to Make Learning Easy
Today, people often play and learn the piano with the aid of smartphones and tablets. Using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi technology, our Roland digital pianos for Madison musicians wirelessly connect to your mobile device, enabling you to take advantage of popular iOS/Android apps and online practice videos. You can play along with your favorite artist and bands or practice with some of the very best piano teachers. You could visit Sheet Music Direct to download a wide range of music scores, or install iOS apps like PiaScore with free access to over 70,000 classical music scores; you can even turn the pages of the score on your iPad/iPhone screen by pressing the piano’s pedal.
I’ve recently retired from teaching. I had a home studio and rarely played the clavinova-type keyboard I used for lessons. My husband strongly suggested we invest in a piano I would enjoy playing. I checked out all the stores in Madison and accidentally found the Steinway & Sons store tucked in between two other stores, barely visible from Mineral Point Road, in Madison, WI. I wanted a REAL piano. No more electronic models. Tom greeted me with the warmest smile! His gentle demeanor and obvious instinct as to what I wanted helped me to view many options. Space was an issue. He showed me the Roland GP607 digital mini grand and it was love at first sight! To my chagrin, it WAS digital with headphones, a light, and the most incredible sound I’ve heard from any piano. Although I was never ‘into’ the hundreds of sounds one could produce on digital pianos, the beautiful grand piano sound gave me much satisfaction. After checking out other types of mini-grands at different stores, on-line, and private ads, I went back and got a great deal on a brand new ‘baby’. I was treated rudely and/or ‘not taken seriously’ at other stores, but Tom was genuinely interested in my satisfaction. He more than met my expectations and I am thrilled with the purchase. I have had other pianists play on ‘Baby Roland’ and everyone of them could not believe the quality, style, and enormous, in-tune sound produced by this little ‘giant’ piano. The staff was pleasant and knowledgeable. A great combination. My rating (as a teacher) is A+!!! My suggestion is to follow my footsteps. Stop at Steinway & Sons FIRST then go and check out other piano stores. I am positive you will head back to Steinway & Sons as fast as your ‘vivace’ feet can run!

I bought a Roland digital piano about five months ago, and the experience was outstanding all the way through. The salesman, Tom, was both passionate about music and realistic with what I was getting (didn’t try to upsell me at all). Every time I go back, I’m always greeted by name. If I’m ever fortunate enough to be in a position to buy a Steinway acoustic, I would go out of my way to return to this store.

We purchased a Roland Digital Piano for our adult daughter who lives in an apartment – so silent play was a priority – she is an advanced player so the touch/response and authentic sound was important. After a number of years without and instrument, she quickly returned to form ! It is wonderful to see her play again and thanks to this superb instrument – and the wonderful folks at Steinway & Sons Madison – it is a true win-win!
